It’s an eternal question and one that even King Solomon posed when he wrote in the bible
“What profit has a man from all his labour
In which he toils under the sun?
One generation passes away, and another generation comes;
But the earth abides forever.
The sun also rises, and the sun goes down,
And hastens to the place where it arose.
The wind goes toward the south,
And turns around to the north;
The wind whirls about continually,
And comes again on its circuit.“
The Bible: Ecclesiastes 1:3-5
In other words Solomon was saying, Life, What’s It All About?
If you know the story of Solomon you will know that God gifted him with extraordinary wisdom. So much so that people were amazed at his understanding and his judgements. In this wisdom Solomon concluded that we are all on a merry-go-round that has no meaning outside of the understanding that God is real and is working out His purposes in us. At the end of his writings in the bible he concludes this
“Let us hear the conclusion of the whole matter:
Fear God and keep His commandments,
For this is man’s all.
For God will bring every work into judgment,
Including every secret thing,
Whether good or evil.“
The Bible: Ecclesiastes 12:13-14
There is more to life than what we see and experience, more than the day after day cycle of getting up, going to work then going to bed. When we die we will all stand before God and face judgement for our actions in life. The good news is that God loves us and is a Father to us, the bad news is none of us meet the standard He sets and so we all face death for our sin. The really good news is He sent His Son Jesus to pay the price for our sin on the cross. We literally get off scot free if we receive God’s gift to us, Jesus.
So how do we receive Jesus?
Simple, tell Him you are sorry for your sin and you want to change. Ask Him to come into your life and be Lord. Walk with Him, talk to Him, live for Him. He has great things for you. He has plans for you, plans to give you hope and a future.
Jesus said of Himself that He is the Way, the Truth and the Life. John 14:6
This is where life begins. Life begins with a person. Life begins with Jesus.
